Re: Simmconn AWE64 Adapter

Do you have any SIMMs that exactly match the types used in this video (it also shows the matching jumper settings) ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHAx2BWEjK0 Exactly? No. But I do have several 8 chip 16MB modules with very similar part numbers on the ICs. Is the thing really that picky about …

Re: Simmconn AWE64 Adapter

I just assembled my SIMMCONN but I can't get it working with my AWE64 Value. Checked all soldering, all good. Tried a 32MB stick, 16MB stick, and 8MB double sided stick, (jumpered appropriately) but regardless what module I put in there it shows up as having 0kB DRAM in the awe control panel and …

Re: What specs to look for to play DOS Quake, Diablo II, Warcraft III, etc. at HIGH native resolutions?

I found the MSI MS-6905 "Dual" adapter, not the "Master" version. If this one will let me buy my way out of this PLEASE let me know lol. don't buy that - it will have the same problem as the one you already have If the box doesn't explicitly mention coppermine support, it most likely does not have …

Re: What specs to look for to play DOS Quake, Diablo II, Warcraft III, etc. at HIGH native resolutions?

The CPU has pins called VID. They tell the VRM on the main board what voltage it wants. The jumpers on the slokets serve only to OVERRIDE the VID pins from the CPU. As long as you can set the slocket to "CPU Default" as you mentioned, it will simply pass through the original VID values from the CPU …

Re: What specs to look for to play DOS Quake, Diablo II, Warcraft III, etc. at HIGH native resolutions?

I'm still googling and reading, but if I can't find the exact mod for this exact board, cross-referencing all these other tutorials to find out exactly what to do to my different board...may just be over my head. So I bought all this stuff, and this Dell, with the premise that I can upgrade it to …

Re: What specs to look for to play DOS Quake, Diablo II, Warcraft III, etc. at HIGH native resolutions?

1) no it's some random s370 adapter I had lying around that I had to modify for my coppermine setup 2) the longer wire going over to the pin off the socket was specifically for multiprocessing support IIRC, you should be able to skip that one 3) for voltage you should just be able to pick the CPU …

Re: Welcome to the updated VOGONS

a website overloading the default system mouse cursor strikes me as a feature on par with background MIDI and spinning wordart gifs but tbh I didn't even notice it until people got all fired up about it, so I don't actually care
