When you put in an incompatible SIMM does it have the same behaviour where diagnose detects no DRAM and the awe control panel shows 0kB?

I just assembled my SIMMCONN but I can't get it working with my AWE64 Value. Checked all soldering, all good. Tried a 32MB stick, 16MB stick, and 8MB double sided stick, (jumpered appropriately) but regardless what module I put in there it shows up as having 0kB DRAM in the awe control panel and …

The setup screen has a setting for 10 MB/s. But where exactly? AHA-1540CF is Fast SCSI, and Fast SCSI means 10 MB/s on the SCSI bus , not on the ISA bus. The CPU has pins called VID. They tell the VRM on the main board what voltage it wants. The jumpers on the slokets serve only to OVERRIDE the VID pins from the CPU. As long as you can set the slocket to "CPU Default" as you mentioned, it will simply pass through the original VID values from the CPU …

1) no it's some random s370 adapter I had lying around that I had to modify for my coppermine setup 2) the longer wire going over to the pin off the socket was specifically for multiprocessing support IIRC, you should be able to skip that one 3) for voltage you should just be able to pick the CPU …

All my Adaptec PCI SCSI adapters' BIOSes are packed as well. I don't believe they are unpacked by any external hardware though, just self unpacking at runtime.
