The 2230 doesn't require memory resident drivers at all. If you install the full set you will not gain any meaningful function. Just use sb basic and stick your set blaster and diagnose /s in the autoexec.bat to initialize the card

I'd love to give a 15bit DAC a try in my card BTW please dump the actual EPROMs in a programmer, software dump is not helpful …

Would you be able to share dumps of the alternate DAC BIOSes? I'd like to try them with the at&t DAC for giggles. I can source a sierra DAC as well

I believe it does, but selecting them in windows 3.1 doesn't give me output. I'd be happy to try burning some different ROMs and giving it another go, if you have them.

My card came with the music. I swapped to an AT&T DAC and it worked fine with no ROM changes.

the EPROMS on the Speedstar 24 are encoded in some kinda way. Dumping them with a programmer and then interleaving the bytes does not produce sane output, nor does it match with you get if you dump C000 with software

CTCU is required for a PnP soundblaster in DOS. You can replace it with Unisound though Weird, I also habe a SB Vibra16 and do not need these drivers. Just the BLASTER settings and the Mixerset/Diagnose commands to set the volume. Many of my games do work with this. The vibras aren't all pnp. …

Controller ID should always be 7 and boot drive should always be 0. Only one source of term power is required
