@Dominus: think harekiet once coded it (partly?) and there are some patches on sf.net on this matter as well. My comments above about it won't enter in dosbox is about the MT32 emulation.

if you do code. it won't make it in dosbox. We made decision to split munt of the dosbox code. I currently see no reason to reverse this.

it would double as a decent general MIDI device too aren't you describing munt perfectly ? Not bundled with DOSBox, won't work outside the major platforms, and involves setting up separately which is a PITA. ;) And how exactly is the a problem of DOSBox ? Maybe ask the munt devs to make it compile …

for the sake of testing. Try with a low cycle value. DOSBox doesn't buffer the midi data. It just outputs it to the host at the speed it receives it. Some drivers allow themselves to loose data depending on the driver.

mt32 emulation was developed using the dosbox codebase, however because of possible legal issues and the fact that more people /projects could benefit from it if it was a seperate emulator, caused it to become a seperate emu.

I am pretty sure that set device=mt32 is a wrong statement. regular versions of DOSbox don't support the MT32. I take it that you got the roms from your own MT32 ?

dosbox runs fine on duo core processors, but it uses only one core.

The data of the old wiki should still be there. Just the redirect messes up your way to access it. (at least that it is what I think) Fixing access to the old wiki is on my todo list.

Have you tried using the debugger enabled version of dosbox to see if some interesting message pops up (it is in the development forum). You seem to mount things right, so it must be a compatibility problem of dosbox.
