just enter a:\install in the executate box. the a:\ doesn't show up in the filemanager and I don't have clue why.

dosbox doesn't touch the volume of the midi data. Maybe you can use some sort of timidity thing to act as a bridge that amplifies it ?

there can only be one batchfile active at one time. (without call) so if you start one without call then it can not return to the original batchfile. so all lines below the synd.bat will be skipped

mount c : .\. works with relative paths. but using mixed paths with mount is troublesome as they are to look a like. which one should be mounted in which case

the paths for mount are for your real drives. not emulated ones. imgmount works on both, because that is handy

you claim sdlmame works with framebuffer. Do you then use sdl or do you some additional parameter when starting mame? DOSBox totally relies on sdl for keyboard input.

don't use dosbox to create it. lowlevel stuff like placing bootable files isn't supported with regular mount. you might want to imgmount the whole drive. but I doubt that this is supported n the windows version of dosbox

the colours are switchable if you really want it. (either a tsr or changing the sourcecode. I currently have purple on black in one of my builds) the key stuff would need investigating. which version are you using of dosbox ?
