Dunno one would think that underlying OS should provide some decent caching. although with networked locations one can offcourse never be sure. how many files are we talking about ?

interrersting. Perharps there is a bug in our emulation. Makes little sense to include cd audio tracks and not use them, as playing them is rather simple and takes no cpu power.

there is a patch in the patches forum. however you need to be to recompile dosbox to make it work. You're not trying to play Z are you ?

well they do somewhat claim that it is their software that provides the ability to run the games on XP. That is not very kind if they are using DOSBox. I think UFO is available on gametap. they probably don't like it either. railroad tycoon deluxe is also sold. I doubt they have the rights to that. …

okay that makes more sense :) iso and cue/bin both work as there no audio tracks. The audio hanging with the regular cdrom might be bug, but might be caused by the scratches and the dos way of accessing a cdrom which isn't very compatible with high speed cdrom drives. 90 mb is quite small. well yes. iso can't have audio tracks so that is a likely point of breakage. I think the original cdrom might work as well, although I agree that cue/bin are preferable to preserve the old gems.

I read in your report on the compatibility page that you needed to create an image of it. Which regular mounting systems did you try ? Imgmounting doesn't add that many extra support layers. Mostly support for hidden files.

try making a shortcut with the minimized thing on, and run that shortcut. This is really a general operating system question and doesn't haven much to do with dosbox.
