that is indeed very odd. the slow speed combined with zero cpu usage is a bit odd. Which version of DirectX do you have installed ?

a weird program that is. The variable comspec is set by dosbox to z:\command.com Try setting it to other values to see if that changes a thing. Figuring out in which way your application acces the envirionment is tricky as there many way to acces it.

why it is called 0.65 😀 Tinus suggested that 0.65 was more appropiate considering the amount of changes. Harekiet and I didn't object to that suggestion.

if it works under DOSBox on your own pc in a floppy drive. then it will work on an usb floppy drive as well.

that it does allready support. only not for cdrom images. Could be that it's only supported when using boot. not sure.

well if they need accces to certain stuff stored on the floppy (in hidden tracks and such) then DOSBox can't handle that protection. If you made diskimage out of it. DOSBox might be able to handle the protection. (reason: lowlevel floppy acces can not be done simply in crossplatform way, while …

strip dosbox will make the size allright again. It seems like an SDL problem on your pc or with gentoo. I'm afraid I can't help you with that.

uhm you could try removing a few subsystems from it to see if starts up faster. (might crash dosbox later, but that is of little relevance, as it to determine which part starts up this slow).

uhm well you can debug dosbox quite easely it's main is easy to understand try setting a breakpoint on sdlmain.cpp:1231 and then using next to step through it. you should be able to determine in which function it sleeps. It would be good to determine if it's DOSBox that is sleeping or the …
