a proper bootloader will save you from entering the bios. bootloaders are quite common when dealing with multiple OS-es and they aren't very hard to setup.

ah yes. 800x600 is killing the timing. A lot of data needs to be transfered. I assume you allready used some frameskipping and set the output to overlay ? did you use the cvs version of dosbox ? that one should have better mpu401 support in intelligent mode. Look in the development forum where to get it.

the textbox is indeed a bit weird. I'm not entirely sure what could be causing it. The tandy sound has been changed indeed. The frequency has been changed according to some information provided by newrisingsun. (It used to be the same as mame)

the 127 files restriction is imposed by the dosbox dos. Booting a different version of dos inside dosbox can work around this problem. However It's unlikely that the dosbox dos will change to 199 files. So your best bet is booting a different version of dos insided dosbox

in the readme should be mentioned that you should/could call the file ~/.dosboxrc That way dosbox will automaticly use it.

for fixed disks it does indeed make little sense, however for floppies... (I might be confused with a different Call, but I remember having read somethink like this once.)
