well the s3 is fine enough i would say There were more things involved then only the VESA capabilities.

the sdlmain.cpp of dosbox has some extension checks in it as well it are 2 lines of code or so. quite simple. you basicly get a char* to a list in which all extensions are listed. print it and you are done.

uhm you can use the debugger (look for it in development forum) and do a memory dump of a certain area (for example the videomemory)

the SDL version problem... I would assume that dosbox somehow can't find your sdl-config file.

hmm a proper project should have a makefile based make. Making a makefile isn't that hard you know. you can't expect your users to have a crappy compiler installed. just kidding, although dosbox has certain code pieces in to make sure msvc makes good code.... Better said we had bugs that we caused …

try mounting one of the directories as cdrom as well mount c c:\ mount d c:\crus -t cdrom (if you installed the game in c:\crus)

you can only change it by recompiling. I have no idea what the negative side effects will be as files higher then 127 will be considered to network files. (we don't support those) We don't support it. 180 files is just way too high. The original programmers should have programmed it better. Sorry

reading the documentation will certainly help. as will typing intro inside dosbox. basicly you have to mount a directory as drive inside dosbox.
