Quality boards are important just like any other chipset. I use an Asus CUBX-E with a P3 1.4S (133 fsb) for my retro gaming needs and it's quite nice. 5900XT graphics card. Asus CUBX-E + Tualatin CPU

Definitely check the caps on that board. When I got mine a few years ago, nearly every cap was bad :( And notice the one between the pci slots. With my board the pcb marking was wrong for the cap and the polarity switched Right now all of them pass a quick visual inspection, nice and flat on top. …

Picked this up from a local kijiji seller today for $60, it's an MSI 694D Pro with 2 Pentium 3 1ghz processors. I think I'll load Win 2k on it later and have the PC I always wanted back then. I was running a Celeron 466 overclocked to 583mhz when 2k was my main OS.

Did some playing around with the screen and my p3 600 tonight, hooked up with dvi it looks great on the desktop and for anything still but I guess I'm so used to modern screens that to me it seems blurry as hell when stuff is moving. it should have a good scaler being a 1600x1200 monitor, very nice for 800x600, the brightness and contrast shouldn't be an issue, but expect washed out black. Excellent. Considering its venerable age (17 years or so) and depending on how much use it got, it likely will have lost some brightness …

I found a guy selling one for $20 locally, I should be picking it up first thing tomorrow from him. I've never used this model before, does anyone here have one? Do lower resolutions scale nicely considering it's a 4:3 screen? If you have any experience with this screen please post. Thanks!

I've tried a number of cards in my CUBX-E machine, off the top of my head: 5900XT - perfect 6800XT - crashes TI4200 - perfect 440MX - crashes Voodoo 3 - perfect I'm sure I've used others but that's what I can remember for sure right now.

I just bought this, it's a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. My 1990 C1500 truck has become very rotten around the cab corners and has developed some serious electrical gremlins this year, so it was time for a change. Hopefully this thing is a bit more fuel efficient too.

I've been playing through the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion lately, so far I like it. I've put a few minutes in here and there over the years but lately I've been playing through a few quests or two every night.
