Also, i'm not sure if it was you, but you (or someone else) pointed to "yahoo auctions" for looking for things like an SCP-55 PCMCIA soundcard and a such, but after some googling it seems that there are only 4 yahoo marketplaces all for asian countries. That is weird, I had that exact card without the cdrom drive and sound was working fine with the S16 drivers. It eventually worked without the CD unit with the original driver. I just should not have removed the switches of the driver related to cd-rom in config.sys. As for the S16 drivers, I did …

Are the PCMCIA controller drivers loaded as well? My CD-ROM drive didn't get detected unless all 3 PCMCIA drivers were loaded then it detects the drive. Yes, I tried all 3 drivers (CS, SS and resource map utility). That card matrix is amazing thank you for putting it together! All of these cards …

Tested the EXP Multimedia kit that I bought NOS recently. Works flawlessly in DOS, does not require CS and SS if the PCMCIA controller is Intel 82365-compatible.
