It's a charity that runs on donations. I am not sure there is anything to bankrupt. They did not make any money from their "book lending" so I doubt the publishers are going to go for the jugular. They will probably just force the "library" offline. They will try to get as much money as they can …

Whut. I said the library has nothing to do with the wayback machine. They are completely different technologies. Banning the library is not banning old versions of websites.

I’m considering getting a couple of the 3.5mm audio switch boxes I linked above. Is there an inherently bad reason I should avoid 3.5mm in favour of going for switch boxes that have RCA inputs/ outputs? No it's not an issue - it's the whole point! You only really have two sources of sound you will be mixing - digital sound and midi/music. In other words, a 2-channel mixer would suffice. All you need is a switch-box for each source type, as I said - one for stereo digital sound, one for midi …
