Realistically the 4200 will be Mostly fine, but some people swear by using much earlier drivers that dont support the gf4. Hence the gf2 gts which is a great card in itself for that era. I prefer near period correct, not for correctness sake but I feel it's best for compatibility and performance, …

I had a Savage4 32MB alongside V2SLI for a long time. I think I now have a Geforce2 GTS there instead for performance reasons. For this era, GF2 (including MX) or lower will get older drivers that may be actually faster and more compatible with certain games in the late 90s. I feel GF4 is too new …

I would go with pure dos and play around with some of the many third party shells available, most of which are far nicer than the abysmal win3.1 experience.

There are widescreen LCDs that will letterbox 4:3 properly. Phil has done videos of them before. The question is do you want black pillars on either side, and take up the extra space required by a widescreen. I prefer 19" Dell LCDs that display 4:3 just fine even though are 5:4 screens. Not really. Its the great gap that has never been crossed. Basically without ISA sound cards, early dx compatibility and cpu slow down controls, your experience playing 90 dos and windows games will be compromised.

The shuttle is a nice clean looking board with agp, sdram, atx power. I prefer atx boards myself but this one tempts me.
