I have a little, cheap, stereo 4-input switchbox with headphone jacks in and out. Works fine. I use another one to switch spdif into a DAC.

I am surprised you would be willing to go back to v3 or nvidia rather than give up on your dreams of dual core...a pointless feature for this era. I would say the v5 is more awesome and if going back to s462/single core AthlonXP is what it takes....just do it. I think the AthlonXP/v5/vortex2 …

I think pci version.of those are actually quite rare. OTOH pci voodoo3s are common, and while a bit expensive, are nothing like voodoo5s etc.

TRIM is essential as otherwise the SSD will see ever increasing block usage even though they represent deleted files from the OS perspective. And don't you answer your own question .... clearly stating that such software did exist for XP?

There is a ukrainian seller who sells off huge amounts of various cards for cheap, and I occasionally see them pop up there. They don't go for that much, as while rare, 3d before voodoo1 basically sucks balls.

I think I recall reading about someone once who was able to interpret the banding to point to the exact memory chip that was fried. There are people who fix voodoos (mainly voodoo5s) and I am sure they would know what to do with this.

Doesn't win98 go through a whole hardware detection routine when it detects the primary display has changed and do driver installs and everything? I tried the bios switch trick once but gave up as it was too much of a pain.

Interesting, I set my Via Ezra 1000@100 to x3 (300mhz), disable L1/2, disable branch-prediction and I-caches (i.e. everything that setmul supports for the C3)...and it came close but not as slow as the K6. 3dbench lowest=16.9 Speedsys lowest=16.7 So for me at least, my k6-3+ is my King of Slow. I …

Sorry I don't understand what you mean by stack throttle. I do use the K6 and C3 as complimentary systems, using specific setmul options that apply to each one.
