Did I need another midi module? Hell no. Did I want another midi module? Not really. Did I go ahead and buy it anyway? You bet I did! The price was OK so there. Edit: tested it and it sounds great so happy anyway.

My rule is simple - only aim to play games up to 5 years ago. That way can always stick with midrange cards....our steam libraries are big enough right?

I love my MX300, but I have the MX25 as well. The SQ versions of the vortex are usually affordable when they appear and have either spdif coax or toslink built in.

Gotta love isa cards with onboard sample sets. I have aztech, ess and opti versions, not to mention terratec, yamaha and televideo(crystal). The ess one is my favorite as it's so easy to configure and sounds good enough. Obviously the terratec and yamaha have the best sample sets and synthesis.
