my pre 2000 PCs were better cable managed with tidy flat cable routing than anything I had between 2000 and 2018 ^^ I very much enjoyed doing origami with my IDE and floppy cables.

yeah, get that one ^^ I got a used Genius G540 off ebay because it was a little bit cheaper, and I regret my decision because it is such a hassle to set up... the manufacturers website being offline by now doesn't help either... but oh well, at least I got one of those cheap EPROM erasers with it …

yeah I plan to get one of those to play around with too, the main reason I got the extron is so I can display 31+kHz signals on a 15Khz monitor and just as a general purpose device because it converts basically any analog signal up or down.

bringing some order in my setup... the bottom slot is going to be fitted with a custom midi thru/audio switcher/power supply box so the MT32 is going to sit one unit higher up and I still need to remove the feet off the MU50 and FB-01 so they sit level... also need to get rid of the slight sag …

yep, I know I also have among others an Extron USP405 up/down scaler and scanconverter 😉 these old devices are quite handy when dealing with all kinds of different signals.

I recently bought an Extron RGB 202xi, I haven't tested it yet because I'm still trying to get the smokers smell and gunk out... but according to the manual it should pretty much eat anything from MDA, CGA, EGA and convert it to RGBHV

most drives get retired before they're even 10 years old, hence why drive failures are more likely to be premature ones, because the late drive failures of old age simply won't happen. of course if you would use every drive till the end of it's life span quite literally... then death of old age …
