yeah, just looked up the datasheet, oh well 😁 like I said, I guess I had a misconception about how AC'97 chips were implemented.

huh, I didn't realize that, but yeah on the SB live are already AC'97 chips, I never actually made that connection that they're basically the same as the onboard AC'97 chips, I always assumed they were specifically made to interact with motherboard chipsets and not actually be used on sound cards. …

the even more puzzling part to me then is using an AC'97 chip as mixer/DAC... bizzare use of scrap bin parts :D why even go through the effort to make a PCB and produce a card like this is beyond me though, the sole reason would be to scam people looking for an aureal card... I can't believe that …

flatscreen was originally meant for CRTs I think, yeah, LCDs (and plasma I guess) were called flatpanel displays

the "lonely stick" is the cache, as this is one of those infamous boards with fake cache :D (chips on top right) it's good that it's on there as this stick is unique to this board and not compatible with other coast modules. the board is pretty sought after for it's obscurity, apart from the fakery …

none of the AWE64 cards have an internal wavetable header. I don't really get the point of getting an AWE64 in the first place if your main goal is using a dreamblaster.

Or using an external microphone to record the speaker itself? definitely microphone, any other recording method just doesn't represent what a PC speaker sounds like imho the small cone speaker attenuates the signal in a certain way that just makes it sound different. this is my very makeshift …

that might very well be, I assumed maybe the alc650 may be able to connect to PCI directly. but yeah, it's always funny to me they go through that much effort, everyone specifically looking for an aureal card should spot the fake immediately x3

yeah... most definitely fake x3 judging by it having an alc650 that big chip is probably just on there for show and does nothing at all.

Dude, sorry, really nerdy nitpicking, but, you need to go for the non-plus ! The "plus" has an emulations of the FM synthesis "OPL3" integrated, while the card of that Youtube video has the "LSL262" clone of the real Yamaha YMF-262 chip. nope, we had this discussion here before :D it clearly has …
