The DOS drivers uploaded by Phil to the ensoniq section in vogonsdrivers were fake, those were creative drivers for ES1371. These are the Ensoniq DOS/WIN9x drivers for Audio PCI 1000/3000 (ES1370). I downloaded the DOS drivers from dosdays.co.uk and repackaged them. For me they worked without …

PCMCIA to Compact Flash adapter is an option as well. Keep in mind that anything you buy for this could come in handy for future projects as well, so you don't have to think of it as sinking $ into one cheap laptop. That's how I convince myself to keep buying shit anyway.

Most likely a misconfiguration at the time. There is a jumper (JP3) that selects between 256K or 512K onboard. (Edit- And of course a jumper that enables the additional 128K board).
