Post a picture of your board. If it has the "old style" tantalum caps, one (or more) could be shorted. If you have a multimeter check resistance of all rails vs. ground. +1 for shorted tantalum caps. They either blow up when shorted or show no visible damage at all. Check their resistance (not in …

It would be nice if we could upload larger photos. I know it's a retro site but that shouldn't include file size. I hate scaling down pictures when high detail is important. The maximum number of attachments should also be increased from 5 to 10-20 so posters don't have to make another comment.

Prices keep going up because resellers buy everything while enthusiasts hold onto their stuff. Give it 20+ more years and you won't even be able to find a crappy little generic 286 board. Original IBM parts are scarce now and will be near unobtainable in 20+ years. Resellers won't lower prices …
