Unisound 0.76f fails to detect ESS1869F card but properly initializes Aztech card for me. Will test it with more ESS cards in the future. I see no reason why download server of such small utility is a 3rd party web site.

Much simpler approach that will work even on XT machines is to periodically overwrite persistent mixer settings :) I am not much of a game player but how exactly do the games disrupt the mixer settings? New version 1.8 of DOS32AWE released, the download link is in the first message. System Shock game is now working. The bug is in the game which for no apparent reason overwrites some interrupt vectors . The fix could be useful in other games too.

"Nice" is subjective. "Poor quality" also 😀. But if you think that "anything will make it better" just look at the gazillion clones (OPTi, aztech, etc. apart from yamaha and ess) and think once again if you can.
