Ohh that is great news ! Am glad the PSU never powered on in your first test, that could have been disatrous.... was going to suggest you modify a 24 pin ATX extension cable by pulling pins and re-aligning but was waiting to see if you found out anything. Great work !

Can you post a picture of the whole board ? Those pics are good but not for identing the board.... Most boards need a 4.5 v external (3 xAA or AAA work) but a rare few need 6v external.

The last version of the OEM disk set I could find is v5.00 and it covers "RTL8139C(L)+/RTL8139D(L)/RTL8100(L)" and covers DOS thru XP (does have WFW3.11, DOS and Packet drivers). I recently quit with anything under a 286 and refuse to buy anything made by IBM prior to 1992.... just my opinion as the clones were so much better. Never cared about latter resale price, just care about ease of setup/working on ;p
