Looks like a Packard Bell 430 motherboard or similar... I can see a corroded jumper and at least one bad "via" that should have been fixed during the battery fix.... Too bad about the Diag card, Probably ruined it and maybe the motherboard 🙁

Curious which chassis is the Gx200 ? My guess is bad or loose floppy cable. Did you go back into BIOS and make sure it shows only the 3.5" drive as A ?

I tried to disconnect 5.25 drive in hope that it would pick up 3.5 drive as A:, but did not work that way. Also thought of swapping cables, but they are different kinds. 3.5 looks like sata, but 5.25 uses another type of connector. Something that goes over pcb, not classic pins. Ending on 5.25 …

Some motherboards + BIOS allow "swap A -B" for floppies, would be listed under the Floppy portion if your board BIOS supports it. Otherwise just do as weedeewee says......easier than messing with the drive jumpers (usually have to remove the drives, specially 5.25" to alter any jumpers.)

I used Norton Utilities disk wipe or wipe info or what ever it was called back in the later DOS days, but it was limited to a max of 2GB partition iirc thanks weedeewee ! Will save it and give it a try next time I need to wipe a HD.

Sounds like a good board ! Asrock did make some good ones. It has only two DIMM sockets so make sure you match the ram...it does only support one floppy (but many back then did 🙁 )

They put the HS on 180 degrees off from what it was supposed to be. Could have fried the cpu but sounds like you got lucky ! Long ago had a friend do similar and it fried the cpu, think it was a AMD soc 754 iirc.
