Look for jumpers for multiplier and bus clock. I can't read the CPU's markings in the photo but it looks like a Pentium 60. The bus clock should be 60 MHz in that case, and the multiplier 1x if there is a setting for it. You should be running Windows 95, 98 or ME on that. Maybe NT4. XP is not …

I'm pretty sure that 5800/5900 can not operate as 8x1. If they were operating as 8x1, their clock speed would allow them to vastly outperform 9800Pro's single texture fillrate. Actually that idle temp is probably fine for a 6800. These GPUs have limited idle power management. See what it does when gaming on it. The NV shutdown temp is around 120C. 85C is probably a good target. Oh yeah, I know that NV30 and NV40 can take high temps - the driver control panel says 115* C …
