I do believe that CMSS-3D is better on the X-Fi cards. That's surround sound over headphones. A ton of EAX sound amazing with this. Apparently Windows 8.1 requires some instructions that Socket 939 CPUs don't support. Windows 8.0 didn't require them though. Interesting. I was going to experiment with 8.1x64 on my Abit AN8 setup but it reboots before setup loads.

From what I gather, AGP doesn't support multiple devices. A Maximum PC article said the MAXX enumerates one GPU as AGP and the other as PCI.[1] Apparently this doesn't work on NT5. Ooops. Voodoo5 works differently.[2] Windows 9x is probably the best choice for a Rage card anyway though.

It's probably quite viable for some games, but a GeForce 256 is faster and more flexible. I think there are fluidity problems with the early ATI AFR, and we also know ATI drivers weren't amazing back then.

Yeah I am aware of how 6800 Ultra and X800/X850 stack up. You can go back a page in that review and see how Doom3 stacks up on R4x0 too. Probably applies for Prey, Quake4, and ETQW as well. The 5600 is a slightly faster chip than the 5200/5500. I could see a 5200 Ultra being faster than some 5600s perhaps.

I think Riddick also uses the Ultrashadow capability. And the other idTech4 games of course. I was digging around for info about it about a month ago. Apparently GCN supports the depth bounds test GL extension.
