Yeah you probably want something newer as Mau1wurf1977 says. You are expecting far too much from 486 / 5x86 systems. They are not even remotely fast enough for Voodoo2 SLI or the games you probably want to play with those.

My guesses are that either the 45.23 driver has some beta code for NV38 or it is running NV35 code and it doesn't work properly for NV38. It's too bad that the driver doesn't log initialization anywhere. With some INF file additions you could make the installer recognize your card and name it …

I have been playing Turok 2, NFS4 and Klingon Honor Guard with dgvoodoo2 on Win8.1 and with a Radeon 6950. No strange problems. Turok 2 was showing only 2D elements and had blank 3D before dege fixed it up.

I like the Silencers too but I had to replace the fan on one I had twice. The bearing is a sleeve and it wears and eventually becomes noisy. With enough time of course.
