vice grips 😉 actually when fingers just won't do, i use a surgical forceps. also used by fishermen. I cut off the snap locks though so they don't lock closed. Needle nose pliers work great too.

Considering there isn't a dynarec core for PowerPC, it will probably be limited to 386 and below performance. It's the same on Xbox cuz they didn't port the dynamic x86 cpu core. I coudn't get X-Wing quite smooth on there.

Thanks. Does anyone know, whether it is possible to tell, how much bandwidth the HDD controller has based on the Speedsys test ? (linear read speed?) A fast modern HDD should be able to saturate it with ease, so it might be possible, to find the limit. I think 486 PCI usually manages about 20MB/s. …

I just discovered SysGod's attachment. That Skynet EXE works perfectly for me. With the executable from my copy of the game, it would lock up or crash within a minute, without fail, in SVGA mode. Patched or not. Now it just runs fine. Very strange. Thanks Sysgod for your magic exe.

I've had luck with Promise Ultra66 on 486 PCI mobos. You can't run a CDROM on them though. For that matter, I once ran a Promise SATA150 TX2plus and a SATA notebook HDD on that 486. 😉
