Why not just buy a brand new DS12887+ from digikey? At least for me shipping is a big cost item for getting supply from places like digikey and mouser. More local places tend to have rather old stock (5-10 years old). I would rather invest once in something like this and have a steady supply of …

Are you in the Nordics? Tme should supposedly get a batch of 12887+ now in July. I did not want to wait (in April) so i bought mine from digikey (Replaced the rtc in my ps/2 model 30-286)

Tried to remove the DEVICEHIGH=C:\CARDSOFT\CARDID.EXE but then it refused to recognise the card completely. I could try the xircom pe3 via the lpt just for reference. Maybe that will conserve some memory (albeight much slower throughput)

sorry, no, they are for the smc 8020bt/t. I will try the 589 ones again, but i think i already did in the past and the result was very much similar (needed the CS util in place). I'll test again within 4 hours 😀

Hmmm. I'm fairly certain that i managed to recognize and use an 8MB ram card (Intel) on my Windows 7 laptop. Let me dig it up and retry it, perhaps i can give some input (hopefully). I also have another brand of linear flash (i think it was a 6MB AMD and one 4MB that i will test).

The SAFT was not the issue, the battery cable was. After soldering new leads in place (bypassing the cable breakage) it now works consistently 😀
