I use the XP boot menu to achieve this, you just need to install windows 98 first, have the 98 hard drive as first boot drive and I think the XP installer should do the trick!? I made some progress, if I let the config utility autodetect, it will select SB16 with correct IRQ and DMA. If I then try to change SB16 to anything else, IRQ and DMA get reset to ? and is greyed out. So basically, I need to stick with autodetect.

Try RayeR's NVClock utility. I've never tried it with anything but the GeForce2 MX, but it's been great for lowering the working frequencies for that card. Thanks for the suggestion.
