Re: Looking for Pentium 3 1GHz for ASUS P3B-F, need guidance on what to get for Slot 1 to S370 adapter

P3B-F is a nice board, with a proper BIOS , you can go up to PIII Tualatin 1.4s / 133 . I do not recommend using 'noname' SLOT1-S370 adapters though, they may have stability issues with FSB 100 and 133 MHz. Aforementioned Abit Slotket III would be a good choice, I have them working with Coppermine …

Re: New sound card(s) project(s): Vortex2 Tribute

in Marvin \ Sound
IMO biggest drawbacks of Vortex cards were rather related to drivers, especially for DOS and Win 2k+. There was a promising thread in this forum dedicated to development of an alternative DOS driver - not many recent updates unfortunately, however, some documentation is mentioned there, and the …

Re: AWE32 - issue with installed DRAM / distorted MIDI

Sounds like I need to pull out my AWE32 cards and do some testing. On the DX4-120 setup, what speed is the ISA bus running at? Would you be able to post some hi-resolution pictures so we can take a look? Probably best to not attach them to the forum since it absolutely destroys image quality since …

The AWE32 should indeed work with all of your combinations, although I never tested 2x16 because I don't have this kind of modules. As I'm currently on vacation, I can't check what connections to check, but it is very likely that all address and data pins, as well as /WE, /RAS and /CAS are directly …

Re: Installing DOS drivers on an Audigy2 ZS

I edited the two PCIIRQ lines in CTSYN.INI , ran SBECFG , and double-checked AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS . Unfortunately, I got the same result when I ran AUDIGY12 again . Hmm. Here is my minimal config that 100% works in MS-DOS 6.22, at least in my machine, maybe it will give you a clue. Just note …

Re: Installing DOS drivers on an Audigy2 ZS

Thanks for posting such a detailed guide. I'm trying to see if it's feasible to use the Audigy 2 in Pure DOS using AUDIGY12.EXE YES. Audigy 2 ZS works in DOS 6.22 like a charm. I fixed similar issues pretty quickly so don't remember exact steps, try the following: Verify that PCIIRQ value in "CTSYN …

What are the specs of your system? If I remember correctly, Diagnose.exe has issues with faster computers. K6-III+/450 + ASUS TX97-LE + 384 Mb RAM Yesterday I have temporarily moved the card into 486 (DX4-120), and tested it with both Turbo On / Off = DRAM had been also not detected in both cases. …

Re: AWE32 - issue with installed DRAM / distorted MIDI

This sounds very much like RAM not working properly, but good enough for the windows driver to recognize the size. You are most likely aware that you need to insert two identical modules into the two slots. The AWE32 does not work with a single memory module. In that case, the issue sounds like …
