Re: Orpheus II soundcard thread

This card would be attractive for combining a known good digital FX chip for Sound Blaster Pro, a genuine Yamah OPL chip, and working MPU401 (wave table or external). I think I read that some of the features are available on optical as well. My impression on this is that it's very similar to the …

Re: Creative ES1371 or ES1373 sound card.

This is about what someone can expect when playing FM via SoundScape/AudioPCI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzoloT5eRtY Damn, that SCUMM bar theme immediately rose to 1st place of the most sad & pathetic thing I've heard in 2022, only to be relegated to 2nd place by that poor Doom E1M1 on the …

Re: Discord

I like my retro but not enough to try and use Discord on a retro machine ...surprisingly many retro enthusiasts do actually own relatively modern hardware for such purposes, shit I wont even try to use the internet on a retro rig ..too many security issues to bother with that. Indeed. To each their …

Re: Discord

They're not mutually exclusive, I'm interested in both modern and retro computing, actually it's me that would be really surprised if we weren't a majority. I've spent a decent chunk of my life on IRC, but no denying Discord's where it's at today, even if I'm sure some IRC channels are still going …

Re: AdLib GOLD clone is now a reality

Re: AdLib GOLD clone is now a reality

After some initial issues making Goldlib and Orpheus coexist in a build while using UNISOUND, I've been able to make it work after some pointers/ideas from Keropi. I switched from UNISOUND to ORPHINIT, first of all. Then created two .INI files for ORPHINIT: GOLD.INI: OPLBase=398 FMMode=off ORPHEUS. …

Re: Orpheus II soundcard thread

Does the LT have Gravis Ultrasound support? Or is that what the Interwave chip does? Indeed that's what the Interwave chip does. See the LT as an update of the Orpheus I where they implemented improvements planned for Orpheus II on the existing. I just can't get enough of Keropi and Marmes stuff …

Re: What games did you become really good at?

in Milliways
FPS have always been my thing, and played pretty competitive counter-strike in europe in the 1.3/1.6 era, 2000-2008 roughly. Was in semi-professional sponsored teams and participated in some "high" level LANs. On the side, loved me some mutiplayer Quake/original TF, Quake 2, Action Quake 2, Q2 Chaos …
