I played NOLF 1 in XP, with gtx 970 / 368.81 drivers - the framerate was high, but there were microstutters - the game was quite unplayable; Windows 7 64 bit drivers were perfect. This is why I suggested OP to consider earlier drivers (such as 2xx) for Windows XP.

I used a GTX 970 on Windows XP, with 368.81 Nvidia drivers. The performance in games was not great, lots of microstutters; benchmarks were fine. Since then, I am trying to use earlier / more period correct graphics drivers in XP.

No Live drivers needed. Parus mixer allows to redirect the sound to rear out, thus having best sound quality possible.

Looks like a soundblaster clone. I would not bother with it. Near the slot it says "Copyright 1990 U*NICOM systems." * - unsure about the letter U.

IMHO, the one of the best PCI sound cards for DOS are ESS Solo-1 ones. Highly compatible, do not need EMS to get initialized.

I have run it on a p3 600 with L1 cache disabled, thus a 386 speed equivalent.

I am running the patch on MI2 (any version) and it works just perfect to enable MT-32 and sounds, no slowdowns. I have disabled the L1 cache on my CPU to preserve the timing of MT-32 music. The patch itself works fine with the DOS talkie version (MI1 and 2), but I lose all speech once I use the …

I am using 3dmark 2000 as a benchmark tool, on a P3 600, with W98SE. In DX7, a GF2MX400 (64MB SDRAM 128 bit bus Interface running at 166MHz) is just as fast as an FX5700 with DDR memory, running at 275MHz.

I know how to tell by 128bit memory by looking at chips and I do know that MX does comes in 128bit as well. How would you tell? Unfortunately, this is it 🙁. The card is the model SB0060, however, it is installed with the device id of CT4670. I guess I will need to buy an eeprom programmer, hopefully it will work to rewrite the eeprom on circuit.

Thanks for the replies. I am using windows 98 and I can choose 5.0 in the OS settings, but not 5.1. Third output is labeled 'digital / line out 3' this I why I still hope the card could work with 5.1.

Hi I have a Sound Blaster Live, model SB0060. The card works great. The card is supposed to support 5.1 speakers; it has three outputs in the back. Can you change AGP aperture to 32 MB or lower? I had the same issue and this change fixed it.

What is ek2m from your package and does it need EMM386? I like the idea of using both Yamaha 724 and Audigy, to get the best of both worlds.
