For DOS programs i just use Dosbox, for (some) Windows 3.11 applications I also use WINEVDM : https://github.com/otya128/winevdm Some applications work well, others do not unfortunately. Another approach i like to use for problematic applications is just emulating Windows 98 in dosbox.

Interesting stuff, Is there a reason this program requires protect mode or could it in theory also work on real mode? Some older games require real mode and it would be nice to be able to set the cpu multiplier for them without resorting to the bios.

I had the same issue on my t5710 and it was a no-go even on 256mb of storage. By the time I had enough installed for it to run as intended I would be out of storage. Most of these thinclients have 44-pin ide flash modules from apacer so for me buying a $10 2GB module was the better solution.
