I ran Unigine for a while just to get feeling for the temps. Core is OK, seems programmed to keep it under 70°C. But memory/VRM heatsink is burning hot although it says 47°C for the PCB 😁 (well, It might be subjective). But yes, I'm surprised how silent it is.

You can go for GF4 Ti and Zalman HP80D, if you can find it. I would also consider Zalman VF700 or VF900, although not passive. FX5900(XT) and VF900 would probably be top combo.

They needed chipsets to have feature parity with Nvidia (SLI), they were late and had issues. Intel at that time did not support CrossFire. Marketing was actully running hype train with R600, which backfired.
