First thing I’d do is some light abrasion down to to the copper to see the actual extent of the damage. It’s potentially only superficial. Repeating patterns are typically memory errors. With so few artifacts visible this would appear to be a single bit or single address line. I’ve not had chance to look at the photos in detail, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see some physical damage.

I think the best way to stay compact with full ATX is for a case that hangs the PSU over the motherboard, but then that will limit CPU cooler height.

I’m not aware of differing clock speeds between PC/MAC variants of 3Dfx cards, but it couldn’t hurt to try lowering the clockspeeds by editing and re-flashing the BIOS.
