I've been testing the Linux build, and it runs well enough. I sometimes hit a bug where the screen gets a large white bar on it. Still, it brings back that old Descent feel very nicely. I hope they bring back the cockpit view like in the old game.

I'm not sure they will keep the original Maniac Mansion easter egg. In the old DOS version it was trivial to include it as it would shell out to the old .exe and launch it. Now they would need to rewrite that older Scumm engine as well to be multi-platform. It would be cool if they do it, but …

This looks much more like Descent than that other kickstarter: Descent: Underground. That one seems to focus more on the multiplayer, while this one focuses on the single player. I hope it makes a final surge, but I'm not sure it is going to make it.

I'm sure I'm going to pick this up. Too bad there isn't a Linux version, that would be sweet. The new graphics look good, just cleaned up and not really changed. I wish they would have added more frames of animation, but that is probably way out of the budget for this sort of thing.

I recently stumbled upon a SDL2 port of NFS2se. Check it out here: https://github.com/zaps166/NFSIISE I was able to compile it on Linux and it works nicely there. It should be able to be compiled for Windows as well.

I use cycles 4000 myself. Seems close to how I remember playing it. It really never was a smooth or even fun game to play. It was just novel at the time for being polygonal and open world. You could drive way off road if you wanted to.
