Found this 386 motherboard. Really tiny and compact, 5 ISA slots with 486 ( 168 pin PGA) support. Unidentified so can someone help me recognize it? CPU is a soldered AM 386DX-40. Looks a lot like this one https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/informtech-it-am33-40-dlc I doubt it's a 486 socket. …

I'm biased on this. Have any of those boards you mention ever had their capacitors replaced ? If not, it's probably time to do so. anyway, spurious interrupts firing can really give an annoying user experience. Cause is mostly hardware.

From what I can gather, none of the missing chips are required for the card to work. or maybe U6 is required for address decoding ?

Could it be, that the 1990 AMI BIOS isn't able to boot from c: directly, and this PC setup was meant to use a boot floppy? I'd consider that to be highly doubtful that I'm gonna answer no to that. it should boot from hard drive. my normal sequence for this would be boot from floppy remove all …

JP25 & JP26 are both 2x4 8pin blocks. makes me think they might be for selecting a dma channel, possibly for the ECP parallel port. edit: from looking at the jumper text file, it's either 4 floppy support or (2 floppy & ECP printer port) I'm unable to identify if the parallel port works in 4 floppy …

Didn't some bios have the option to select the pci scan order from first to last or last to first ? At least I remember seeing such an option on a board or two. edit: not to be confused with the primary display adapter AGP/PCI selection.

Cost me about 10.000 Bfr (~250€) at the time (late 90's) I hope by recently you mean like 15+ years ago. Try this remove the partition then create an extended partition now create two logical drives, each about half the hard drive try to format both. I'm guessing your hard drive has some bad sectors in a lousy location.

Wow sounds great! Do pentium 3 boards have it? I think you can use a PCI-ISA bridge with pentium 3 chipsets. Maybe I'll try that one day. That's a nice idea. I thought of using the VIA 82c586B chipset once. Still haven't gotten round to it though. Also no idea how to handle it with software.

it probably says that due to the hardware ecc recovered entry in the smart table. Can't recall if I mentioned it but smart entries aren't foolproof. Sometimes a bad cable can cause smart failures to appear.
