I can't get windows 98 upgrade to install. Not sure if it's the disk or that it just won't upgrade this OEM installation. It failed when unpacking a cab file. Irritatingly it damaged the windows 95 installation. Would it be possible to just format the c drive and install windows 98 normally, …

Yeah this is what I ened up doing. Id be quite happy with windows 95 but because of lack of wireless or LAN I want to use nusb (hack) and it only runs in 98 as I understand it.

Maybe a ThinkPad, the T42 should be the last to support windows 98. IT runs a Pentium m which is kind of cool. Its Also the last thinkpad made by IBM. I have never owned one though and can't speak if it's gaming capabilities, should be a lot of YouTube videos of it as it seems common.

Nice I like SD2ide too but I believe it is maybe too slow for my taste for desktop computers. I use it in my SS7 rig. Its handy to change OS by switching cards and they are dirt cheap. For laptops it's probably fine. Not sure why I didn't consider it for my armada.

I can't remember what you CPU fan is called, did you have to do modifications to fit it? I see them for sale regularly and they look awesome in comparison to the stock one I use on my CT -479. This is one of the big complains about the CT-479, that it is hard to fit normal CPU fans.

That's my general concern with most radeons I've owned, to be honest, always when I cheaped out and bought Radeon and I some cases AMD I kind of regretted it because of fan noise. Oh well I'll try the card when I get it.

That LG looks nice, reminds me of the IBM design. I think I used to have 19" Sony that could do 100 MHz in 1024x768, but it would not fit in my current cave layout..

It is probably true what dinth sais. What I'm concerned about is that internet archive is playing a high stakes game. Some of the other preservation they do is more important imo.
