Oh ok. I'm investigating this lack of caddy still.. seems like the list I posted should be complemented with armada 3500 and armada 4100. I've been looking in all the different series' maininrnce manuals and noted the names of the hard drives that they shipped with. No luck on finding one yet. 😒

Cool. What installation did you use? I'm planning on trying out the restore cd or whatever (win 98) I found on archive.org. it should have the drivers preinstalled I guess. But at some point I would probably grow tired of the bloat and install regular win 98 se. Don't think I will dual boot this …

I have had the same problem with a 1750... What is it with people? Oh well.. The part id is usually listed in the repair manual. In my case the caddy, HDD and connector are listed as the same part though.

Actually according to seller and documentation it was never used so I doubt it was changed. In that case probably sometime in the 1980s.. I will check for spots, but it's hard to know if it feels ok without experience. Guess I'll just run it and see how it fares. I still have a really hard time …

Hmm interesting idea. I happen to have an old lightbulb, but my wiring is 50 Hz, and this drive is 360 rpm I believe. (If it matters at all.)

So a an update. I got hold of some floppy disks! They are of questionable quality but works for testing the machanics of the drive. Put in a disk and it moved flawlessly and without any effort. Into the drive (it was off). It also ejected without any problems. So I guess that's nice. I have not …
