Firmware corruption and paranoia

The prior last 2 laptops I've bought were not on the internet for a single second, to my knowledge. I like the idea of being insulated from malware and such. If I need something I'll download it to my phone and transfer it by cable. Ok my Crimebook was used on the internet with regularity I guess, …

Ok well went to thr bank and wallyworld. Not far from thr house on the return trip I heard at least 1 thunk when changing gears. I guess it's a fargone conclusion that this tranny is toast. It's said a fluid change can make a difference. With my luck mayne it's hastening it's demise. Don't know what …

But what repairs were done while in your possession? I don't really want to talk about my present car woes. I just will say I am rolling again, and on 4 wheels LOL. Got my tranny oil and filter changed. Not taking it for an extended drive until the weekend, to see if it starts to shift.hard. i'm …

But you copied my word, you you regurgitator you. Stating someone prescribes.to woke ideology means they believe everything is equal. Men really can have babies, all regimes are as bad, or good, as all the rest. There are no inequalities. Yet you point out that there's grave inequities in what …

That's a description that fits practically every nation. There are legitimate things to be mad about the CCP about (not so much the Chinese). This is just misguided nonsense. That's a relief. I didn't realize that "practically every nation" has China's near-monopoly over the manufacture of …

Can we all agree this is the prudent stance to take on this issue. It's not that I have specific plans to actually buy a robot butler, assistant, bodyguard. If I did I know it won't come from there. My dear old mum has been coming out with this sort of anti-China nonsense a lot lately too - this is …

Bought a BF in July Asus E410M smallish laptop. 99$. Lasy years model w/ a 65gb ssd. Can add a 2nd. Want windows 11 and linux on there. I erased windows and successfully installed lubuntu. The similar but apparently inferior Lenovo unit I have is buggy. Have installed multie distros in the past, but …

Re: Which OS has more cheap or free applicationd?

Well the reason I asked was because I bought a cheap secondary laptop w/only a 64gb ssd drive. I cloned and overwrote the supplied windows 11s installation, presently have lubuntu. I can apparently install a 2nd nvme ssd, which is really nice. I don't need a lot of primary storage, I could add a 2nd …

I bought a cheap mountain bike a few weeks ago. Used it to get to work this past week. 6 miles round trip. Haven't ridden a bike in 40 years. Except for a couple hours on a stationary bike. It wasn't out of concern for anything in particular. I have a tranny leak and didn't want to deal with it.
