Back in 2018 I bought an Intel serverboard. Dual socket 771. It was plug and go. This schnitzel is for the birds. Ah well may as well see it through. https://www.ebay.com/itm/292673128668 Mine was 20$ shipped. I told myself what could be wrong with this deal.

But the question remains is it an ok idea to force a mobo to accept power, any mobo. It doesn't seem like a terrible idea to me. But triggering a mobo is a result of a momentary contact. A p/s won't stay on unless you leave the green wire grounded, afaik.

There's a cpu diagnostic card or some such nomenclature I've seen reference to, the connector for which is very nonstandard. I had not realized a board of this vintage had such bmc hardware. Toshiba quality went way down unfortunately by 2009. My old Sony pcg-grx560 seemed pretty elite when I paid 2300$ for it. Not so much when it died 1.5 years later.
