Do you have a free 3.5" bay? Then you could use a 3.5" mobile rack for a 2.5" harddisk. I have never seen those for IDE-drives, but you could use an SATA drive and attach a SATA/IDE-converter internally

I understand it that way: you partitioned the disk in your old machine and it can't be read under MacOs, right? Have you tried the other way? Partitioning under Mac/Linux and see if it's still readable in the DOS machine? How large is the card and maybe try another one?

So after braking tabs again (but of course) I said f**k it I went to eBay and ordered replacements for both cards.
