I'd be quite interested to know what hardware is being used! Especially whats being used to handle signal conversion to DVI-D - I've heard very few off-the-shelf widgets do the job properly often not properly supporting the various weird resolutions older PCs tend to put out.

Before putting any tapes in it, its probably worth taking the cover off the drive and checking everything is OK in there. IIRC these are a kind of QIC drive and a lot of (most?) QIC drives at this point are having difficulty with the rubber capstan turning to goo.

Most ISA sound cards have a MIDI port - that one is just a bit unusual probably due it being for a business machine. Raspberry Pi? Probably hard to get lower power than that. Though being an ARM processor and running Linux you'd have to use an emulator - probably still faster than a real early 90s PC though.
