Re: ITX-Llama

Added full debugging of both Coreboot and SeaBIOS over serial, booted and saw that the bridge wasn't detected. Transferred the SOM over to a TinyLlama, hooked up my MiniPCIe-to-PCIe and PCIe-to-PCI adapters and a video card. The PCIe-to-PCI adapter uses the exact same bridge chip. Then did a boot …

Re: ITX-Llama

@Eivind Interesting! Do you think there will be any limitations on the PCI slot? I'm curious to find out if one of these - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264588068457 will work in it or not. I don't see a reason why that card shouldn't work. However.....I have to get this stuff up and running first. …

Re: ITX-Llama

Finally got the boards delivered! I made a mistake with the footprint of the ATX connector, so JLC couldn't assemble it. I ordered an alternative connector from Mouser, will try to fit it and play with the board later today! Filename IMG_0533.jpeg File size 1.69 MiB Views 2038 views

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Just thought I would share that I figured out a solution for the SD-Card activity LED . Used a yellow 3mm LED (1.9-2.4V) and 1K resistor on positive leg of LED. Wired negative leg to Data0 of the SD card since the data line is normally pulled up when not operating. And positive leg to VCC (VDD pin …

Re: ITX-Llama

I think I'd be interested in purchasing one from you when it's ready. Sure! :) Will this board have the option to use other System on Modules on it? or just the one module? This iteration only supports the Vortex86EX SOM. There does exist a 168-pin Vortex86EX2 module, but it's not available as a …

Duffman wrote on 2023-05-15, 05:53: Will you be selling any of these like you did for the tinyllama? If I can get everything working and I'm happy with the results, yeah I imagine I will. The initial prototype is currently in production, hopefully it'll be in my hands in about a week.

Re: ITX-Llama

@Eivind Regarding the use of an SD card slot, if it's the same one used in the tinyllama then it's limited to 32GB maximum and won't work in windows 98. Could you swap that for a CF card slot? or otherwise just a standard 40pin IDE connector and let people choose what to connect to it? I appreciate …

Re: ITX-Llama

Wow great work! So just a small catch. New SATA optical drives that I have looked at lack the analog audio out. But every IDE drive has it (and sometimes headphone jack too!). So might have to use an IDE-to-SATA adapter with an IDE optical drive so you have the analog audio connector for DOS. Haha, …

Re: ITX-Llama

Disruptor wrote on 2023-05-03, 21:44: Yes that's not much. Is the mini SD card recognized as fixed or as changeable disk? Fixed disk, primary IDE channel. I have yet to try it out, but according to the Vortex86EX datasheet the SATA port is presented as the secondary IDE channel.

Re: ITX-Llama

Swap PS/2 connector with sound connector. Then swap network connector with sound connector. https://www.google.com/search?q=old+atx+backplate&tbm=isch Note that you also can use just one PS/2 connector. It then is combined for mouse and keyboard by using all 6 wires. There also exist passive cable …

Re: ITX-Llama

Ah, that's easy. Some newer supplys have 24 pin connectors that can't be split to 20+4 pin connectors. So if you use a 20 pin connector on the motherboard, a 24 pin supply connector won't be blocked by capacitors. Hehe yeah precisely - that's why I'm opting for a 24-pin motherboard connector, as I …

Re: ITX-Llama

Disruptor wrote on 2023-05-03, 19:20: You can use a 20 pin connector. But I recommend to leave the space next to it free, at least from big capacitors like in your pictures. What do you mean, leave space next to the 24-pin motherboard receptacle free? Why?

Re: ITX-Llama

A couple of thoughts. Does it need a full 24-pin ATX connector? Or is that only for part availability? Just wondering if you can use a 20 or 24pin pico-psu with this like other ITX boards I have used. Any possibility of an front headphone jack header? USB header for a front panel jack? I would be …
