Re: Is there Anyone "Overpaying" for Hardware and Proud of it? Well, maybe not Proud, but...

If it's expensive there better be good photos. There are some ebay sellers (cough*wiredforservice*) taking pics on a flip phone in their basement then asking 3x the normal price. If its out of focus and they are not willing to provide decent pics then they get added to the ignore this seller list.

On the subject of not paying too much, I need tact lessons on how to deal with a couple of types or maybe different sides of the same type of sellers... #1 He's got "too much to list" photos of multiple items, piled haphazard, giving the impression that he's got no time, doesn't know what anything …

Re: Is there Anyone "Overpaying" for Hardware and Proud of it? Well, maybe not Proud, but...

What usually stops me from going overboard is asking “What am I going to do with this part?” Anything earlier than late Pentium is easy for me to ignore. Or AGP video cards at their twilight. Occasionally the process fails, though. I have a Voodoo4 4500 with which I have no plans, but I don’t want …

How you guys get the money in the first place? Generally we work for a living and earn enough to have some free cash to throw at hobbies and such. I'm also willing to take a shot at "For Parts or Repair" auctions and sales, its how I got my G4 Ti 4600 and Dell Latitude 630D lappy, you can find some …

I started collecting about 15 or 20 years ago (I forget exactly). Have 500-600 graphics cards, 150+ motherboards, 1000s of CPUs, and still buying. I'll never get round to testing them all, so tell myself that my addiction is an investment :) 600 GPUs O_o sweet baby Jesus, the fun I could have …

I'm nearly at the point that dropping 800-1000 AUD for a Voodoo5 5500 might be worth it just to have it off my list, I have pretty much everything else I wanted except that GPU. If the V5 55000 remakes were cheaper Id buy one of them but they are even more expensive. Overall what I consider a …

Re: What game are you playing now?

Just be aware that the first game -Enhanced Edition has issues, I've tried a number of times to play it and it simply wont render correctly on my 2080ti, tired it on the 3080ti and got the same result, seems to be an issue with it being a DX9 game and well neither GPU can do DX9 without being …

Re: What game are you playing now?

The Witcher 1 was the first game CD Projekt Red developed and while they were ambitious with some aspects of the game (a bit too much actually.. the game got released as a janky mess and in some parts still is) they clearly didn't want to tie the game to the book storyline and has very little to do …
