Re: Goblin's Quest 3 CD (talkie) problems.

The problem with the Coktel Vision CD games is that they do not like the NT version of MSCDEX.EXE -- "MSCDEXNT.EXE". Use SAPUCDEX. Go to the DOS Environment tab of your VDMS shortcut properties and add SAPUCDEX to the AUTOEXEC.BAT section. Also, uncheck the "Enable low-level CD-ROM support (MSCDEX …

Re: goblins quest 3: not working. unknown reason

in DOS
I got Goblins Quest 3 running fine with VDMSound. The Coktel Vision games just seem to not like the NT version of MSCDEX, MACDEXNT. If you use SAPUCDEX with VDMSound, it should work. In fact with SAPUCDEX, most of the Coktel Vision games seem to work even better than with Windows 9x or DOS 7.

Re: Kings Quest 5/6 and dosbox

The Windows version of KQ5 will run fine on XP. You just have to set your resolution down, before you launch the game. Compatibility Mode does not change it soon enough so the game quits before it even starts. A convenient way to do this is to make a batch file to replace the Windows shortcut and …

Re: Kings Quest 5/6 and dosbox

Use VDMSound just for the DOS version. "SETUP.EXE" to install the Windows version and "INSTALL.EXE" for the DOS. Re: Kings Quest 5/6 and dosbox

Do you have VDMSound installed? Some have have had trouble getting the voice track working with the DOS KQ5. The Windows version works fine on XP. Just run SETUP.EXE that's in the KQ5 folder on your CD to install it. You will need to set your resolution to 640x480 256 colors before you run the game, …

Re: Can't run Kings Quest 7 on xp, illegal instruction?

in Windows
Also, if you want to run the Windows version, you must have version two of the game. If you look in the base directory of the CD, you will find a file named "VERSION". Open this in Notepad to see what version you have. If it is earlier than two, you will have to install the DOS version. ("INSTALL. …

in DOS
Someone on The message boards of SpaceQuest.Net is developing a patch for the many timer bugs in the Sierra SCI games. http://forum.spacequest.net/viewtopic.php?t=183 I tried it on QfG 4 and using just VDMS it sems to have worked. Though I have not yet played through to the point of the infamous …

Re: Mouse in top half of screen only in game

I pulled out my copy of Callahan's and installed it on my G400 equiped system and had no problems with the default VDMS settings and without Mouse2kv. In the TEST directory on the CD is a file called VTEST.EXE, which when I run it gives a message "The VESA test was successful!" The version of my …
