It can do all of that, its only flaw is its age, it doesnt have the modern connectors. Thats it. But thats why I have the others. For running old games it works amazingly well.

1) do NOTHING with that drive, treat it READ ONLY 2) use a program like "Recuva" or "File Scavenger" and do a long search on your disk 3) you need an extra disk where you can park your restored files 4) you will probably lose some files, deal with it - the partitions don't have drive letters …

I did that too but with a pair of Pentium 3 700/100 CPUs. The boards FSB was jumper set, I just set it to run at 133 and it worked. Pretty well too from what I remember.

If you click on the unallocated spaces and remove it then it will all become one large unpartitioned space taking you back to where you started, with a block on unallocated space and your Windows partitions.

Its an ATA controller that drive requires ATAPI. You just need a PCI controller card that adds ATAPI support not UDMA RAID. I think the Promise ATA 66 was a proper ATA controller, there were a couple of others but I cant remember their names. Ill try and dig mine out.
