For me everything has to work properly. If it has SATA then it has to be able to use it. If it has wireless LAN then it has to work... And be what Microsoft made. As fast as you can get and everything works... Including the CPU. Which discounts anything with multiple cores or multiple sockets.

You dont need to use the OS and GUIFormat.exe to set up the partition and format on the disk, its just what I use because I have the OS and GUIFormat.exe is free to download. As long as you end up with the disk that has the partition size you want and formatted FAT32 then use what ever tools you …

It cant find a hard disk controller. As above. set the controller to ATA. The drivers are already intergrated, but they are only the basic ones, the chipset driver can be integrated into the install disc using something like nLite.

Thats exactly what I would do. Put the card into a modern PC, partition and format it as FAT32 and fill it up with files and then try and read those files from the card.
