Re: commandline params

Maybe the program is looking in the current directory, rather than its own? Does this work?... mount c c:\ c: program -f textfile.txt Though, program.exe -f c:\textfile.txt should have worked regardless...

Re: xcom apocalypse

Yeah, you only need to bind it to the EXEs. Hmm, I dunno then. You've tried pretty much everything. Maybe you'll just have to wait until support for the game in dosbox improves. It just seems to be one of those games... :\

Re: Help!!!Newbi

Looks like Dosboxer only handles the configuration side of things. You still need to do the commands to load the game up, but you can put them in the autoexec section of Dosboxer instead of typing them in Dosbox. These commands should work for most games (obviously change paths and names to suit!) …

Re: xcom apocalypse

Please read my last post carefully. I said how to change cycles. You can also set it in dosbox.conf where it says "cycles=". And no, it can't have an adverse effect on your computer, however high or low you set it. The worst you can do is set cycles so high it's using nearly 100% of your CPU, which …

Re: You must run Stonekeep from a CD

Hmm. Stonekeep is a popular game today. :) Is e: your cd drive? Try mount e e:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl The -t cdrom just tells dosbox to treat it as a cd drive. The other options are just some advanced stuff it might need. Also, maybe you need to run an exe/bat on the CD instead of in the install …

Re: Stonekeep on Dosbox

For dosbox, that is the basics pretty much. :) Things to try to speed a game up, in order: 1.Increase cycles with Ctrl F12 until the sound starts breaking up. Then decrease again with Ctrl F11 until the sound is ok. 2.Try changing to the dynamic cpu core. This won't work with as many games, but it …

Re: xcom apocalypse

Yeah, by unzip over I just meant extract to the same place, so the files get overwritten with the ones in the zip. If you did it right, it would have asked you if you wanted to overwrite them (probably). Press Alt-Enter to switch between full screen and windowed mode. For the sound...I'm not sure... …

Re: MS-DOS Operation problems (specifically sound)

in DOS
Well...the windows WDM driver has nothing to do with sound in Pure DOS. There's a good chance your sound hardware simply hasn't got a dos driver for emulating older cards like Sound Blaster/Adlib/Gravis Ultrasound, etc. I had a quick look, and I couldn't find one anyway, but someone might know …

Re: xcom apocalypse

Well, I'm looking at the guide at http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=8962 which recommends you use the standard CVS build (i.e. beta version) at: http://cvscompile.aep-emu.de/dosbox.htm This particular version doesn't contain all the files you'll need, so you need the ones from the official 0.63 …

Re: Eye of the Beholder

in DOS
Hmm. I searched the forums but didn't spot anything relevant. Are you running an original version of EOB with copy-protection intact?

Re: The 7th Guest

Looks like 7th guest has Windows and DOS versions. Ideally, if you have the windows version, you should try to run that under XP. Take a look at http://www.home.earthlink.net/~infernofilecabinet1/XpSetUpWalkthroughsA_E/7thGuest_Setup.htm If that doesn't work, you could certainly try the dos version …
