Unreal 2 on Intel GMA 3000? Graphical glitches!

in Windows
Since Unreal couldn't go 2 minutes without crashing my old Win98SE system, I was really looking forward to playing it on my new system. I plan to get a dedicated graphics card (as soon as I can figure out which one I should get), but for the time being, I have the built-in Intel Graphics Media …

NFS2SE: Is it just me or is the Monolithic track unfair?

in Milliways
I still enjoy playing Need for Speed 2 - Special Edition. I usually pick the McLaren as my car, and also as my opponents. I can easily get first place on every single track except Monolithic Studios. Seriously, unless I truly screw up, I haven't come in at any place less than first since I started …

Recommendations for a PCI-E video card for Core 2 Duo system?

in Milliways
I recently bought a new (refurbished) 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo system. It has Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3000 graphics built in. I'd read that this graphics chipset isn't the best for games. I know that a Core 2 Duo isn't exactly state of the art anymore, but I don't want the graphics slowing down …

Re: Mediocre old FPSs, A3D, bugs, etc

in Windows
It was Shogo with the multiple endings OK, I knew about that one. :) I should also mention that the RangeBind commands I posted earlier also work in Shogo for adding mousewheel and extra button support. Actually, it was for Shogo that I originally sought out that information. I believe Shogo lets …

Re: Hello I need help with a game.

in DOS
Really Malik then why is it on an abandonware site for download if you can't play the game? "Abandonware" isn't actually a legal definition. Legally, there's no such thing. Most all the games on such sites are still under copyright by someone (and thanks to today's crazy copyright laws, probably …

Re: How far back do you go?

in Milliways
Not to mention windows 7 x64 is still pretty backwards compatible as long as you don't want 16bit windows or dos stuff. 5 minute logon times sound like dns is missing or something like that, nothing that is the fault of the OS. I read a post on the Lucasarts forums complaining that none of the …

What should I do with old systems?

in Milliways
I have a bunch of ancient systems that I've brought home during bulk trash pickup. In fact just the other day I grabbed a Pentium 160 with a whopping 1.6GB drive and a Trident video card. It doesn't boot and some of the front panel connections have been disconnected. The only reason I even know what …

Re: Sin, A3D, freezes and crashing - solved

in Windows
I've noticed the freezing issues too. Besides saved games it also doesn't seem to like all resolution settings and might lock when loading regardless of whether it's a save or a new game. Yet more "good old days" PC gaming hardware/software bug joy. I never had it crash when loading the game or …

Re: Sin, A3D, freezes and crashing - solved

in Windows
I beat the whole game. Moderately mind numbing. It's sort of a Duke3D + Half Life experience. I'm haunted by all of the mediocre late '90s shooters that I didn't play at the time. Next up is Blood 2... I just recently played through Blood 2. I don't know if it's just the game, or something on my …

Re: DOSEmu getting Infocom games to work.

in DOS
Have a look at the Interactive Fiction Archive; http://www.ifarchive.org/ You won't find the Infocom games there, since they're still under copyright, but you will find Frotz as well as interpreters for other formats, and a ton of free games to play on them. 😀

Re: Blood 2: Crashes 10% of time while loading saves

in Windows
I've only had two crashes while playing. Once in the museum level of the normal game and once in the final level of the Nightmare Levels. Other than that, all of my crashes were while trying to reload a saved game. I can deal with the other shortcomings, but the crashes were really annoying.
