COM4.PRN is a filename with special DOS handling. Not supported in DOSBox.

4) Smacker video can produce artifacts when the CPU speed is too low (even on real hardware) I don't really see anything wrong on the pictures tough. Their faces don't look better. The 6-bit LCD D/A conversion might add to the effect.

They are talking about an emulation mode for 512-byte sectors, so there will be a performance penalty at most.

You can increase it until it takes 90..100% of a core or until the program behaves erratically in speed, whichever happens first.

By using Virtual PC or VMware. Windows in DOSBox is not officially supported.

You can try core=dynamic and cycles=20000 or so. If that still doesn't show improvements I'm out of ideas.
