dosbox -c "serial1 directserial realport:com1" or dosbox -c "config -set serial serial1 directserial realport:com1" multiple "" don't work so well. I think you need to put into -c blocks too.

Access time 0,3ms and transfer rate 3.1MB/s on that computer. Transfer rate can get like twice as fast on a faster computer.

Copying a file (to the same drive) in DOS is about 1.8MB/second on my 1GB Sandisk CF card on a 486-100.

I don't think this 40GB harddisk is worth spending hours on it. You could have looked at the system event log of your XP, read errors show up there too. It could be that it only fails when it reached a certain temperature or when accessing a certain range of data on the disk.

The computer you are trying to connect to can't be reached. If it is behind a router, port 23 needs to be forwarded. If it runs on a unix-like operating system, a port greater than 1023 must be chosen.

Higher temperature means more stress and thus more wear though.

The 24 is wrong and should be a 16 instead 😉 However everything is blinking then, as on my real hardware (CGA clone). Is this normal? I've tried two different XT 8088 mainboards.
